Trust


Young to old

There is a common disconnect between ages: Trust of younger generations. Passing things on to younger generations seems to be what determines the affluence of a society. The burden most often falls to teachers, but this is a burden which should be shouldered by all. All of us have something to teach a word craving knowledge and opportunity. Pastors have their congregations to tend, leaders have their followers to lead, and parents have their children to raise. Somewhere in the timeline of it all though there is a disconnect that places an unseen burden upon the younger generation to perform to standards that have never been established. 

 To the elderly

The weight of leadership is a heavy one to carry, but it was never meant to rest upon one persons shoulders forever. In wisdom, grace and truth may you teach us to be leaders and not scald us for not knowing what we do wrong in your eyes. Words unspoken are never conveyed and the divide between brothers and sisters of Christ from young to old begins to have a wedge driven into it with all the force evil can muster. Please fathers, mothers, grandparents, elders and sages, open your hearts to the vigor of the young so they may fulfill the great commission in ways only your former say might have been capable to do. Luke 18:16 tells of Jesus calling the children to himself, so why do you push them away with harsh rebuke? May God soften your hearts to the children in your midst.

To the young

Brothers and sisters, may we imitate Philippians 2:3, John 15:13, and Luke 9:23. We must no longer consider ourselves better than one another for even Jesus himself did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage (Philippians 2:6). Cast off these feuds, gather together and praise God for the provision of grace and truth He provides to us daily. God has granted us our elders to learn from. They have gone before us, go before us and are before us to teach us, guide us and shepherd us. Be patient, humble and open to those who are willing and able to teach. 

To all

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
